2018 World Car Of The Year Top Three Finalists Announced At Geneva Motor Show

At the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, the World Car of The Year finalists were announced.

The top three World Car of The Year finalists are the Range Rover Velar, Mazda CX-5 and the Volvo XC60.

The World Car of The Year 2018 winner will be announced at the upcoming New York Auto Show on March 28, 2018.

Like last year, this year has either SUVs or crossovers as the finalists of the World Car of The Year indicating the global trend of SUVs.

The World Car of The Year 2017 winner went to Jaguar F-Pace.

Along with the 2018 World Car of The Year winner, the New York Auto Show will also announce winners of the 2018 Urban Car (Ford Fiesta, Suzuki Swift, VW Polo), World Luxury Car (Audi A8, Porsche Cayenne, Porsche Panamera).

Also, other categories included World Performance Car (BMW M5, Honda Civic Type R, Lexus LC 500) and World Green Car (BMW 530e, Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, Nissan Leaf).

The top three in the world finalists in the six categories were chosen by a jury of 82 international automotive journalists from 24 countries.

    The evaluation began in Frankfurt on September 19, 2017, and was followed by the Tokyo Test Drive conducted at the BMW Tokyo Bay facility in October offering jurors another opportunity to evaluate contenders that might not be available in their home markets.
