Volkswagen has revealed its 2018 roadmap for India which has a mix of new cars and other special editions.
The year 2017 has been good for the German carmaker as it witnessed an excellent growth because of the Ameo subcompact sedan's healthy sales.
The company has launched the Tiguan SUV and the new-generation Passat catering to the premium segment.
However, in 2018, Volkswagen India will focus on new models as well as special editions.
According to CarandBike.com, among the new product lineup is the Volkswagen Ameo GT TSI launch in India.
The Ameo GT TSI is a performance-focused sedan and not a sporty version of the same.
The Volkswagen Ameo GT TSI launch is scheduled for the end of 2018 and is based on the Polo GT TSI model.
As the Ameo GT TSI borrows the powertrain from the Polo GT TSI, expect the new Ameo GT TSI to employ the 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine which churns out 104bhp and 175Nm of torque mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox.

The Volkswagen Ameo GT TSI will be the most-powerful subcompact sedan in the segment.
While the Volkswagen Vento TSI is heavier than the Polo GT TSI, the hatchback benefits from a better power to weight ratio.
For the same reason, we believe the Ameo GT TSI will be more powerful and benefit from the GT TSI engine.
Currently, VW offers an automatic gearbox in the Ameo diesel model; now with the GT TSI, the Ameo will have the option of either a manual or automatic gearbox.
The Volkswagen Ameo rivals the likes of Maruti Dzire, Hyundai Xcent, new Honda Amaze and the Ford Aspire.
The new Honda Amaze and the new Maruti Dzire will be a competition that the Ameo GT TSI will have to beat. Both the rivals have an automatic gearbox as an option on both the petrol and diesel models.
With the Ameo GT TSI, Volkswagen will be able to position its first subcompact sedan better in the market.

By employing a new and powerful engine, the Volkswagen Ameo GT TSI will be the most powerful in its segment.
Along with the frugal DSG gearbox, the Ameo GT TSI should be fun to drive around the city as well as on long distances compared to an AMT model.
That said, Indian car buyer's penchant for mileage especially in the subcompact sedan segment, Volkswagen will need to make sure that the Ameo GT TSI delivers good mileage.
