Auto Expo 2018: Toyota To Reveal Yaris Sedan
Toyota Yaris sedan to make India debut at Auto Expo 2018.
Japanese automaker Toyota is all set for the Auto Expo 2018 with new products for the Indian market. Autocar India reports that Toyota will debut the Yaris sedan at the upcoming auto show in the country. The Yaris will be a premium sedan which is expected to be launched in the country in the second half of 2018.
The Toyota Yaris sedan is already on sale in several Asian markets and the report states that the India-spec model will be similar to the car sold in Singapore, where the sedan is sold with the Vios moniker. Dimensionally, the Yaris is a mid-size sedan which measures just over four meters.
The front fascia of the Toyota Yaris features swept-back headlamps with projector lights, large air dam on the bumper, LED daytime running lights above the air dam, circular fog lamps and V-shaped crease on the bonnet intercepting the grille, which renders the car an elegant look.

The side profile of the Toyota Yaris sports a prominent shoulder line running across the body, the B-pillar, window frame and the ORVMs with integrated turn indicators are blacked out for a sporty look. The rear of the sedan features wraparound tail lamps, shark fin antenna and neatly designed bumper with reflectors on either side.
The interior of the Yaris sports a neat and simple dashboard layout with a touchscreen infotainment system, silver accents on the steering wheel and chrome-ringed dials. The cabin is offered in a dual-tone colour combination, and the India-spec model is expected to retain the same interior. Toyota also claims best-in-class cabin width, which should be an advantage in the Indian market.
Mechanically, the India-spec Yaris sedan is expected to draw power from a 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 107bhp. Coming to the diesel variant, currently, Toyota does not have a small capacity diesel engine, and the company might introduce a new diesel unit by 2020. Toyota might offer a hybrid variant of the sedan to reduce emission and increase fuel efficiency.
The transmission options on the Yaris sedan include a five-speed manual gearbox offered as standard and an optional 7-speed automatic gearbox. Toyota is expected to bring in a new 1.4-litre diesel engine producing 87bhp and will be offered with both manual and automatic gearbox.
DriveSpark's Thoughts On Toyota Yaris
With the introduction of the Yaris in India, Toyota will be targeting the mid-size sedan segment, which is currently dominated by Hyundai Verna, Honda City and Maruti Ciaz. The key factor for the success of the Yaris in India will be the price tag, expect the sedan to be priced around Rs 9 lakh to Rs 10 lakh ex-showroom. The Yaris will make its India debut at the Auto Expo 2018.
