Toyota Yaris Top Features: Roof-Mounted AC, Gesture Controls, Front Parking Sensors, TPMS & More
The new Toyota Yaris was unveiled at the Auto Expo 2018. The Toyota Yaris will compete in the C-segment sedan category, which includes cars such as the Honda City, Maruti Ciaz and Hyundai Verna. The new 2018 Yaris is Toyota's first mid-size sedan in India, positioned between the Toyota Corolla Altis and the Toyota Etios.
Though the C-segment category in the Indian automotive market has some strong competitors, the comfort and safety features of the Toyota Yaris can give it an edge. Here are some of the top features of the Toyota Yaris:
Roof-Mounted AC Vents

Although rear AC vents are common in most recent cars, Yaris has added it in a different way. The Yaris gets segment-first roof-mounted AC vents for the rear passengers. Roof-mounted AC vents are unusual in sedans, but they are much more efficient than conventional rear vent-units placed at the bottom.
In addition to this, the Toyota Yaris also gets ambient lighting beside the roof-mounted AC vents.
Infotainment System With Gesture Controls
The 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the Toyota Yaris gets gesture controls. Until now, the feature was limited to upmarket sedans such as the BMW 7-Series and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class. You can just swipe your palm in front of the infotainment system, to change the music or increase the volume.
The system supports satellite navigation. However, it misses out on both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Front Parking Sensors
While most cars get rear parking sensors and reverse camera, the Toyota Yaris gets front sensor units too. This means that the Yaris will give you extra assistance in a tight spot. Another thing worth noting is that front parking sensors are usually seen only on cars costing above Rs 20 lakh.
Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
The Yaris comes with a lot of segment-first features; both big and small. One such feature is the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System or TPMS. The feature is limited to just an indication on the instrument console, but it avoids the need to get out of the car and check each tyre.
Seven Airbags As Standard
Many manufacturers claim that they provide airbags as standard on each model. However, the number of airbags is limited to just two or maybe even one on base variants. This is not the case for the Yaris. The Toyota Yaris gets seven airbags as standard across all variants. This proves Toyota's commitment towards the safety of their customers.
Driver-Assist Features
In addition to common systems such as ABS, EBD and BA, the Toyota Yaris offers a lot more driver-assist features. The sedan comes with disc brakes on all four wheels. Advanced features such as Vehicle Stability Control, Hill-Start Assist and Cruise Control adds more to Toyota's equipment list.
Other Top Features Of The Toyota Yaris
The Toyota Yaris ticks a lot of boxes when it comes to features. The number of functionalities available in the car had made the Toyota Yaris desirable even before the launch.
Here are some noticeable features of the Toyota Yaris:
- Electrically Adjustable Driver Seat
- 60:40 Rear Split Seats
- Paddle Shifts In The CVT Variant
- Cruise Control
- Rain-Sensing Wipers
- Push-Button Start
- Rear Sunshade
- Auto Headlamps
- Cooled Glovebox
Thoughts On The Toyota Yaris Features
When it comes to features, the Toyota Yaris leads in its segment by a good margin. If you are looking forward to buying a comfortable sedan with a lot of equipment, the Yaris is definitely the way to go. You can book the new Yaris at your nearest Toyota dealership. Prices for the Toyota Yaris start at Rs 8.75 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi).
