2018 Detroit Auto Show: New Toyota Avalon Revealed
Japanese automaker Toyota has revealed the new Avalon sedan at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show.
Japanese automaker Toyota has revealed the new Avalon sedan at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show. The company's flagship sedan in its fifth generation has been unveiled with significant updates. The new sedan sports updated design and new premium features.
The new fifth-gen Toyota Avalon has been designed by the US-based design firm, Calty Design Research Inc. The sedan features simple horizontal character lines across the bodywork which renders the new Avalon a premium look. The rear of the Avalon features aero fin style Connected LED tail lamps which distinguish the new model from the currently sold Avalon.

The XLE and Limited version of the 2018 Avalon feature a dark grey front grille with a chrome border, machined-silver LED headlight bezels, body-coloured ORVMs, unique alloy wheels ranging in diameter of 17-inch to 19-inch and chrome-tipped dual exhausts.
The XSE and Touring variants of the new Avalon sports a piano black mesh grille, machine-finish and Gloss Black wheels and blacked out ORVMs and headlight bezel. On the rear, the sedan gets black boot lip spoiler, badging, quad tailpipes and diffuser.
The interior of the Toyota Avalon features new three-spoke steering wheel, 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 7-inch MID display and chrome accents on the steering wheel and dashboard. Toyota will also offer a host of upholstery options with a dual-tone steering wrap and much more.
The 2018 Avalon is based on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform. The new Toyota Avalon will be offered with two engine options, a 3.5-litre V6 engine and 2.5-litre four-cylinder Toyota Hybrid System II coupled with a 650-volt electric motor and CVT transmission. Toyota has not revealed the power figures of the powertrains.
The safety features of the 2018 Avalon include pedestrian detection, radar cruise control, lane departure alert with steering assist, automatic high-beams, ten airbags, stability control, traction control, ABS with brake assist and electronic brake-force distribution, and a standard reverse camera.

In its 2018 avatar, the fifth-gen Toyota Avalon receives significant updates to the exterior design. The front and rear profile of the sedan has been changed radically and now boasts a more premium look as opposed to the current-gen model. The new Avalon will hit the roads by mid-2018.
