Tata Nexon AMT Gearbox On Lower Variants Soon — To Become More Affordable
The Nexon AMT gearbox will soon be offered on mid-spec XZA and XMA variants of the Nexon. Prices for the Nexon AMT to become more affordable soon.
Tata Motors is set to introduce the AMT gearbox on the mid-spec variants of its Nexon offering. According to IAB, Tata will introduce the AMT on the mid-spec XZ and the XM variants soon. This will further help reduce the prices of the Tata Nexon AMT.
Tata Motors recently launched the Nexon AMT on the top-spec XZA+ variant. The SUV offering from Tata Motorsis priced at Rs 9.41 lakh and Rs 10.3 lakh, ex-showroom (Delhi) for the petrol and diesel versions respectively.
The upcoming XMA and XZA variants of the Tata Nexon AMT will carry forward the same features as on its corresponding manual trims.
The Tata Nexon XMA AMT will come with features such as remote central locking, power windows, infotainment system with four speakers and steering-mounted audio controls.
Other features include follow-me-home headlamps, power tailgate, electrically adjustable ORVMs, phone and voice controls, rear parking sensors and real-time fuel indicator.
While the Nexon XZA AMT features: Daytime Running Lamps (DRL), electrically folding ORVMs, roof rails, height adjustable driver seat, ConnectNext infotainment system, 6.5-inch central display with Android Auto and navigation, rear parcel shelf and a parking camera.
Both the XMA and the XZA will feature AMT's hill climb assist and creep function features. However, they are likely to miss out on the wearable PEPs key and passive keyless entry.
Similar to the XZA+ variant, the AMT will be available in both petrol and diesel versions of the two mid-spec trims. Both the XZA and the XMA come with the 1.2-litre Revotron and the 1.5-litre RevoTorq engines for the petrol and diesel variants respectively.
The petrol engine produces 108bhp and 170Nm of torque. While the diesel variant on the Nexon AMT churns out 108bhp and 260Nm of torque. Both mated to the six-speed AMT gearbox.

Thoughts On The Tata Nexon XZA and XMA AMT Variants
Currently, the top-end Nexon AMT XZA+ has a price difference of around Rs 60,000 to Rs 70,000 compared to its manual versions. We can expect a similar difference in price between the manual and AMT versions of the two mid-spec Nexon variants as well.
The Tata Nexon AMT rivals the Ford EcoSport and the Maruti Vitara Brezza. The Nexon is the only SUV in the segment to offer an automatic gearbox to both its petrol and diesel trims.
