Tata Motors unveiled the H5X concept SUV at the 2018 Auto Expo in February. The SUV has been spotted several times on Indian roads. Now, Rushlane has spotted the Tata H5X once again, but this time the SUV was undergoing off-road testing.
The Tata H5X which was spotted testing was heavily camouflaged to conceal the design elements of the SUV. The Tata H5X still looks like a pre-production model and the tail light seems to be temporary. Apart from that, no other details are visible.
The flagship SUV from Tata Motors is equipped with alloy wheels and features sharp creases and bulges towards the rear. The SUV also gets a sloping roof similar to the concept model. The H5X will be based on the Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced (OMEGA) platform which also underpins the Land Rover Discovery Sport.
The Tata H5X will be the first vehicle to feature Tata Motors' Impact 2.0 design language. The SUV will also sport the signature Humanity Line similar to the Nexon. In its production form, the Tata H5X will feature flared wheel arches, tri-arrow design on the bumper, skid plates, dual-tone bumper, LED headlight and wraparound tail light cluster.
The luxury SUV from Tata Motors is expected to draw power from a Fiat-sourced 2-litre Multijet II diesel engine producing around 140-170bhp. The engine will be coupled to a ZF-sourced 9-speed automatic gearbox.
Tata Motors is likely to offer four-wheel-drive system and multiple driving modes on the H5X. The SUV will be available in two variants: five-seater and seven-seater. The seven-seater version of the SUV is expected to be named as H7X, indicating its seating capacity.
