Exclusive: SAIPA Ario And Tiba 2 Spotted In Bangalore
Saipa cars spy images by DriveSpark. The Iranian car brand, Saipa spotted in India. As per our sources, the Saipa Ario and Saipa Tiba 2 was transported from Chennai.
SIAPA Ario and Tiba 2 facelift models have been spotted in Bangalore. Societe Anonyme Iranienne de Production Automobile (SAIPA) is an Iranian carmaker which assembles Citroen cars. Later on, the company started producing cars for Renault, Nissan and Kia.
The SAIPA cars were spotted at Attibele toll gate, and inside sources have revealed to DriveSpark that the prototype models were being transported from Chennai airport to Bosch facility located in Adugodi, near Hosur road in Bangalore. It looks like SAIPA is testing the two models in India.
The two models spotted were SAIPA Ario sedan and the Tiba 2 compact sedan in their facelifted avatar. The Ario is heavily camouflaged and finished in dark blue colour. The sedan features large headlamps and black grille. The front bumper also features large air intakes and fog lamps. The car is equipped with alloy wheels.

The rear profile of the Ario facelift gets vertically stacked tail lamps, and the bumper gets reflectors on either side. By looking at the build of the car, it looks like a production-ready model and is being transported to Bosch facility for some component testing.
The other model which was spotted is the Tiba 2 compact sedan which is completely undisguised. The prominent highlight of the compact sedan is its hatchback-style boot. The front profile of the car gets a smaller hexagonal grille flanked by a bit smaller headlamps as compared to the Ario.
The rear profile of the Tiba 2 features stylish LED tail lamps. The boot itself is compact, and the boot lid is integrated to the roof unlike the separate boot lid found on conventional sedans. The Tiba 2 sedan is equipped with alloy wheels. Both the models appears to be the top-spec variants with automatic transmission, dual-tone interiors and alloy wheels.
The currently sold Ario sedan is offered with two engine options, a 1.5-litre and 1.6-litre engine. The top-spec model utilises the 1.6-litre engine producing 112bhp and 151Nm of torque. The Tiba 2 draws power from a 1.6-litre petrol engine producing 87bhp and 128Nm of torque. The Ario is also available with automatic transmission as well.
The SAIPA cars could have been imported by Renault-Nissan Technology and Business Centre India (RNTBCI), as the French company had partnered with Industrial Development and Renovation Organisation of Iran (IDRO) and Parto Negin Naseh, the importer of Renault cars to Iran. The cars might have been imported for R&D purposes.
DriveSpark's Thoughts On SAIPA Ario And Tiba 2 Facelift
Both the SAIPA Ario and Tiba 2 spotted by us were in their facelifted avatar. The sedans get a slightly updated design and revamped front and rear profile. We are not sure about SAIPA cars coming to India anytime soon, but we suspect that the cars have been imported to the country to conduct R&D and check the feasibility in the Indian market. But, the Tiba 2 compact sedan might be a good option for India because of its compact dimensions.
