Next-Gen Hyundai Xcent Launch Details Revealed
South Korean automaker Hyundai is working on the new-gen Xcent compact sedan for the Indian market. Now, Autocar India reports that the next-gen Hyundai Xcent will be launched in the country by early 2020. Similar to the current model, the next-gen Xcent will be specifically designed for India.
The report also states that the new-gen Hyundai Xcent will maintain its compact length but it will grow in width. Hyundai will focus on improving the cabin space of the new Xcent and we can expect an improved legroom and headroom for the rear passengers.
The next-gen Hyundai Xcent will share its frame with the new-gen Grand i10 that is codenamed as A13. The new Hyundai Grand i10 is undergoing testing and the updated hatchback has been spotted on the Indian roads. Overall, the new Xcent will be a better product in terms of cabin space.
On the design front, the new Hyundai Xcent will feature a different design to distinguish it from the new Grand i10. The front fascia of the compact sedan will feature a new cascading grille, sweptback headlamps and larger fog lamps. The rear profile is expected to feature a newly designed tail light cluster and a new bumper.
The next-gen Hyundai Xcent will also feature longer rear doors to give it a proper sedan look. The new Xcent will be loaded with features such as a touchscreen infotainment system with connectivity options, AC vents, USB charging ports at the rear and the new-gen compact sedan might even get a sunroof.
The new-gen Hyundai Xcent is expected to draw power from the same 1.2-litre petrol and diesel engine. The currently offered 4-speed automatic gearbox might be replaced by an AMT unit to keep the costs down. The upcoming new Hyundai Santro becomes the first Hyundai car to feature an AMT gearbox.
Thoughts On The Next-Gen Hyundai Xcent
Hyundai is working on the next-gen Xcent and the new avatar of the compact sedan will be launched in 2020. But for now, Hyundai is concentrating on the launch of the new Santro which is scheduled to take place on October 23, 2018. The new Hyundai Xcent will be premium and upmarket and will rival the likes of Maruti Dzire, Honda Amaze and the Tata Tigor.
