New Tata Tigor Facelift Top Features: Tata Motors has launched the new 2018 Tigor facelift at a starting price of Rs 5.20 lakh for the entry-level petrol model and Rs 6.09 lakh for the diesel; both prices being ex-showroom (Delhi). The latest Tata Tigor mainly brings subtle cosmetic updates to the exteriors plus a new 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system on the inside.
There are no mechanical changes compared to the previous Tata Tigor. The Tata Tiago-based compact-sedan or the ‘styleback' (as Tata calls it) comes powered by either a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine or a 1.05-litre Revotorq diesel engine. The petrol engine makes 84bhp and 114Nm of torque while the diesel is good for 69bhp and 140Nm. The engines come mated to a 5-speed manual or an automatic.
That said, here are the top features of the new 2018 Tata Tigor!
As mentioned before, the 2018 Tata Tigor brings some subtle cosmetic tweaks on the outside. This includes a diamond-pattern front grille, chrome details on the door handles and a set of 15-inch dual-tone five-spoke alloy wheels. But on initial observations, the new Tigor looks exactly like the previous one.
New Projector Headlamps
The headlamps of the 2018 Tata Tigor gets an all-new cluster complete with twin bezels or chambers; one for the park light and the other for the projector. The indicators are still at the same position as before while the overall headlamp unit gets a black background.
Clear-Lens LED Tail Lamps
The new Tata Tigor definitely looks fresh from the rear with the all-new clear-lens ‘crystal-inspired' tail lamps. They not only look great but also gives good visibility to other road users coming from the rear.
The new Tata Tigor features dual driving modes too just like before: City & Eco. When Eco mode is activated, the engine retunes itself to provide more mileage by cutting down the performance a bit. City mode is activated automatically, depending on the throttle input and vehicle speed.
HyprDrive AMT Unit
The Tata Tigor comes with a 5-speed manual as standard while there is also an option for an AMT automatic. Dubbed as ‘HyprDrive Self-Shift', Tata's AMT unit has got three functions: Creep, Sport & Manual.
7.0-Inch Touchscreen Unit
The biggest change in the interiors of the 2018 Tata Tigor is the new 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The Harman-powered unit supports voice commands and a dedicated app suite for Trip-ON, Tata Smart Manual, Tata Smart Remote, Service Connect and Tata Emergency Assist smartphone apps.
Eight-Speaker Harman Audio System
Introduced first on the Tata Tiago, the eight-speaker Harmann audio system provides best-in-class audio quality and is on par with the units on cars which are twice or thrice its price. For those who have the love for good music, the Tata Tigor is a smart choice to make.
The new Tata Tigor ticks a lot of boxes on the safety front too. Dual airbags, ABS+EBD, Corner Stability Control and a reverse parking camera are some of the safety essentials required in a car, and the new Tigor has got them.
Other Notable Features
In addition to the above-mentioned features, the 2018 Tata Tigor also comes with:
- Black faux leather seats
- Roof spoiler plus LED stop lamp
- Black + Grey dual-tone dashboard
- Steering-mounted controls
- Automatic climate control
- Height-adjustable driver seat
- Electrically-adjustable and foldable ORVMs
- Cooled glovebox
- Rear armrest with cup holders
- Shark-fin antenna
Thoughts On The New Tata Tigor Facelift
The facelifted 2018 Tata Tigor doesn't bring a lot compared to the previous version but just the right amount of things to be a strong contender in the compact-sedan segment. In the world of compact-sedans, the Tata Tigor is arguably the best-looking product with its unique styleback design.
