Now, the unofficial bookings for the 2018 Swift have commenced at select dealerships. Maruti Suzuki is yet to confirm the official booking details of the new Swift.
When DriveSpark contacted several Maruti Suzuki dealerships in Bangalore, few dealers revealed that the unofficial bookings have already begun with a booking amount of Rs 11,000. Most of the dealers also informed that the current-gen Swift is no longer available as the stocks are depleted, and the bookings for the current model has been stopped.

Maruti Suzuki has already stopped the production of the current-gen Swift and dealership supply has also been stopped. One of the dealers said that the trim levels of the new-gen Swift would remain the same and front airbag and ABS will be offered as standard.
The dealer also stated that the official bookings for the new Swift is expected to begin by the end of this month, and the new iteration of the hatchback could command a waiting period of around two to three months. All the details will be revealed when the official bookings start.
Coming to the new 2018 Swift, it features an all-new design with revamped frontend end and rear profile. But the overall silhouette of the car sports the signature Swift styling with a sloping roof. The new Swift will also come with several premium features such as projector headlamps and LED tail lights.
The interior of the new-gen Swift will feature an updated design similar to the recently launched new Dzire. The interior of the hatchback sports a new flat-bottom steering wheel, new infotainment system and upmarket seat upholstery.
The 2018 Swift will be based on the HEARTECT platform made out of high tensile steel which is stronger and lighter. The overall handling and the fuel efficiency is said to be improved with the reduced kerb weight of the car due to the new platform.
The new-gen Swift will continue to draw power from the existing 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre turbocharged diesel engine producing 82bhp and 74bhp respectively. The transmission options include a 5-speed manual and Auto Gear Shift (AGS) gearbox.
DriveSpark Thinks!
The new-gen Swift is said to be one of the biggest launches of 2018 in the Indian market. Maruti Suzuki is all set to introduce the new-gen avatar of its best-selling hatchback in the country. The new Swift will be an all-new model unlike the facelift and features significant updates to the design. When launched in India, the new Swift will rival the likes of Hyundai Grand i10 and Ford Figo.
