The new 2018 Maruti Suzuki Swift was launched at the Auto Expo 2018. Prices for the new Maruti Swift start at Rs 4.99 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs 8.29 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi). The third generation Swift gets an entirely new design, along with added features.
The Maruti Swift 2018 continues to retain power from the existing 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engines. The petrol variant of the new Maruti Swift produces 83bhp and 115Nm of torque. The diesel variant, on the other hand, is good for 74bhp and 190Nm of torque. The two engines will come mated either to a 5-speed manual or an AMT.
Here are some top things you should know about the most-loved hatchback in India!
New Maruti Swift 2018 Top Speed & Acceleration
The new Maruti Swift, with its light body and nimble chassis, has a claimed top speed close to 180km/h for the petrol and 160km/h for the diesel variant. However, these figures might change in the real world, depending on the driving conditions.
0-100km/h acceleration for the Maruti Swift petrol has been tested to be around 12.6 seconds. Meanwhile, the diesel Maruti Swift takes 13.5 seconds to reach 100km/h. It is to be noted that acceleration to speeds under 100km/h would be different in both variants. This is due to the difference in torque characteristics of petrol and diesel engines.
The top speed and acceleration of the 2018 Maruti Swift can also be different in the CVT variant.
Maruti Swift 2018 Mileage & Fuel Capacity
As per reports, the new Maruti Swift petrol returns an average mileage of around 21km/l. The diesel Maruti Swift has an estimated mileage of 26km/l. However, the mileage parameter of the new Maruti Swift 2018 would greatly depend on the driving characteristics. In short, the real-world mileage of the Maruti Swift will be less than the claimed figure.
With a fuel tank capacity of 37 litres, the petrol and diesel variant of the new Maruti Swift can offer a good driving range.
New Maruti Swift Boot Space & Ground Clearance
Being one of the most popular hatchbacks sold in India, the new Maruti Swift is expected to meet some practicality. The third generation 2018 Swift has a ground clearance of 163mm, which is enough for Indian road conditions.
Adding more to the practicality of the 2018 Maruti Swift is a decent boot space of 268 litres; a good 58 litres more than the previous model.
Maruti Swift 2018 Overall Dimensions: Wheelbase, Length, Width & Height
The new Maruti Swift is shorter than the previous generation. However, the new 2018 Swift has a higher wheelbase at 2450mm, compared to the older version.
At 3840mm length, 1735mm width and 1530mm height, the overall dimensions of the new Maruti Swift 2018 are compact. The new Swift is wider than before, at the same height.
2018 Maruti Suzuki Swift Bookings & Availability
The new Maruti Swift can be booked for an amount of Rs 11,000. Waiting periods are in a range of 3-4 months due to the high demand. Waiting periods can also vary depending on the dealership location.
