Suzuki recently unveiled the next-gen Ertiga MPV at the 2018 Indonesia International Motor Show. The Maruti Ertiga 2018 features an all-new design language as compared to the outgoing model. The new Ertiga comes with a lot of new features and sports a more elegant and premium design.
UPDATE: The new Maruti Ertiga was launched at a starting price of Rs 7.44 lakh ex-showroom, and is available in a total of ten variants. The Maruti Ertiga comes in both petrol and diesel formats, but the automatic transmission comes only with the petrol model.

The Maruti Ertiga 2018 sports a more upright stance as compared to the old Ertiga. The front fascia of the MPV features a new grille with chrome inserts, newly designed headlamps, aggressively designed bumper with triangular fog lamp housing and a central air dam. The bonnet now sits higher as compared to the old Ertiga.
The front end of the old Ertiga features sweptback headlamps similar to the second-gen Swift. The old Ertiga also gets sloping bonnet, chrome inserts on the grille and fog lamp housing and flared wheel arches.
The side profile of the new Maruti Ertiga 2018 features a floating roof design and a prominent shoulder line running across the door handles and joins the tail light cluster. The MPV also gets newly designed alloy wheels and chrome door handles.
The side profile of the old Ertiga features a simple and minimalistic design with body-coloured door handles and blacked out B and C-pillars. Overall, not much has changed when it comes to the side profile design.
The rear profile of the Maruti Ertiga 2018 looks more premium with the new L-shaped split tail light cluster. The new avatar of the MPV also gets a high-mount stop lamp, newly designed tailgate and revamped bumper. The rear section is sharp and edgy as compared to the old Ertiga.
The rear of the old Maruti Ertiga is simple and clutter-free with wraparound tail light cluster and a prominent chrome strip running across the tailgate. The windshield is more angular as compared to the new Maruti Ertiga.
Engine Specifications, Gearbox And Mileage
The new Maruti Ertiga draws power from a new 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine producing 102bhp and 138Nm of torque. The engine is coupled to a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic gearbox. The diesel version of the MPV is expected to get the same 1.3-litre engine with Smart Hybrid technology. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The old Maruti Ertiga is powered by a 1.4-litre petrol and the same 1.3-litre diesel engine. The petrol engine produces 91bhp and 130Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 4-speed automatic gearbox on the petrol engine.
Coming to the mileage, the petrol version of the old Ertiga returns a mileage of 17.50kpl and the automatic model returns 17.03kpl. The diesel variant delivers an impressive mileage of 24.52kpl and the CNG model returns 24.59km/kg. The mileage details of the new Ertiga is not available at the moment.
The interior of the new Maruti Ertiga 2018 sports a light beige dashboard with faux wood inserts. Other prominent features include a 6.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, newly designed leather-wrapped, flat-bottom steering wheel with wooden inserts and a new instrument cluster.
The interior of the old Ertiga gets a beige dashboard with a SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system. The overall design of the interior is plain and simple and misses out on several premium bits as compared to the new Ertiga.
The Maruti Ertiga 2018 comes loaded with new features such as projector headlamps, fog lamps, electrically foldable ORVMs with integrated turn indicators, new alloy wheels and engine start/stop button. The old Ertiga also comes with a similar set of features as compared to the new Ertiga.
The safety of the new Ertiga includes dual front airbags, electronic stability program, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounts and rear parking sensors. The old Ertiga also gets dual airbags and ABS but misses out of rear parking sensors and EBD.
The new Maruti Ertiga is based on the new HEARTECT platform which also underpins the new Maruti Swift. Thanks to the new platform the Ertiga has grown in dimension and it is wider, taller and longer than the old Ertiga. To be precise, the new Ertiga is 99mm longer, 40mm wider and 5mm taller than the outgoing model.
The old Maruti Ertiga is priced between Rs 6.33 lakh to Rs 10.69 lakh depending on the variant. The new Maruti Ertiga is priced at a slight premium of Rs 7.44 lakh for the base variant while the top-end comes in at Rs 10.90 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom (Delhi).
