New Mahindra XUV 500 Top Features: Retuned Engine, More Leather, Smartwatch Connectivity & More
The new 2018 Mahindra XUV 500 (or XUV500) was launched at a starting price of Rs 12.32 lakh ex-showroom (Mumbai). The Mahindra XUV 500 facelift brings subtle changes to the design and styling, while offering a lot of new features inside. Performance has also increased.
Mahindra claims that the new XUV 500 has always been a technologically-advanced and feature-rich Indian SUV, and the new model brings even more to the table. The new Mahindra XUV 500 has also concentrated a lot on luxury, comfort and safety features. That said, here are the top 2018 Mahindra XUV 500 features you should know about!
Retuned Diesel Engine
The sixth generation 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine gives the premium SUV higher performance figures than before. The engine now produces 155bhp and 360Nm of torque. The diesel engine comes mated to a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. The petrol version which produces 140bhp and 320Nm comes mated only to a six-speed automatic gearbox.
New Headlamps & Taillamps
While the changes to the exterior design features are minimal, the new headlamps and taillamps of the 2018 Mahindra XUV 500 surely stand out. Other new design features include the revised front grille, chrome additions and a new set of 15-inch five-spoke alloy wheels.
The headlamps get projectors and a new DRL-layout. Though the basic outline of the headlamps has remained the same, the lighting cluster has changed.
Coming to the rear, the new Mahindra XUV 500 facelift has a new taillamp cluster with LED elements. The design has been extended to the tailgate.
Leather Seats & Dashboard
As told earlier, the new Mahindra XUV 500 concentrates a lot on luxury and comfort. The new tan leather seats have been quilted with utmost precision, for the best support and comfort. The cabin feels a lot premium compared to the older models, thanks to the new seats.
Leather upholstery has also been carried over to the dashboard. The leather trim, with soft-texture and the fine stitch lines, gives a good feel to the flagship Mahindra.
Smartwatch Connectivity & Arkamys Audio
As a first-in-industry feature, the Mahindra XUV 500 offers smartwatch connectivity. Through a dedicated smartwatch application called BlueSense, the system can control functions such as audio, AC, doors, emergency assists, location services and more. Also, the centre-console is now finished in gloss black.
The new seven-inch touchscreen infotainment supports Android Auto, connected apps, navigation and a lot more. The audio system, tuned by Arkamys, brings out better bass and treble properties for the music-lover in you.
Emergency Call Function & Other Safety Features
Among the many safety features on offer, the ‘Emergency Call Function' is the latest addition to the Mahindra XUV 500 facelift. In the unlikely case of an accident and the airbags get deployed, the system automatically contacts emergency services. The same is also a segment-first feature.
The 2018 Mahindra XUV500 also has other safety features such as six airbags, Hill Descent & Hold Control, ABS+EBD, Stability Control and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System. The XUV500 gets disc brakes on all four wheels too.
Other Mahindra XUV500 Facelift Features
Along with segment-first offerings, the new Mahindra XUV 500 offers many upmarket features. To point out a few, the driver seats are six-way power-adjustable; the large electric sunroof gets anti-pinch; the spoiler has been redesigned for better aerodynamics etc.
Features such as ambient lighting, illuminated sill-plates and a cooled glovebox further add to the extras in the new Mahindra XUV 500.
Thoughts On The New Mahindra XUV500 Features
The flagship Mahindra has reached its third iteration. Since the very first Mahindra XUV 500 was introduced in late-2011, the SUV had received a title of being a lot more feature-rich compared to the competition. The same is happening now, with the various first-in-segment and also, first-in-industry features offered in the 2018 Mahindra XUV 500.
