2018 Maruti Swift Spotted In India Ahead Of Launch

Maruti Suzuki is gearing up for the launch of the third-generation Swift hatchback in the Indian market. The 2018 Swift comes with a radical change to the overall design.
Ahead of its launch at the upcoming 2018 Auto Expo, the new-gen Swift has been spotted by TeamBHP near Kochi. The car is finished in red colour, and these are the clearest pictures of the 2018 Swift.
The new 2018 Swift features an all-new front end with a large grille, redesigned headlamp, sporty bumper and large circular fog lamps. The new third-gen hatchback also features projector lights and LED daytime running lights. The front profile of the new Swift has been radically changed to fit the new-gen tag.
On the side profile, the 2018 Swift retains the signature Swift silhouette. All the three pillars are blacked out and feature a sloping roof design, and the door handle of the rear door is mounted on the window frame to sync with the floating roof design.

The rear profile of the third-gen Swift sports newly design LED tail lamps and slightly revamped tailgate and bumper. Another notable change is the Nexa-style badging as opposed to the current-gen model. This indicates that the 2018 Swift could be sold through Nexa dealerships.
The third-generation Swift is based on the new HEARTECT platform made out of high tensile steel. The lightweight platform also underpins the new Dzire and the Baleno. With the reduced kerb weight, the 2018 Swift will handle better and deliver improved fuel efficiency.
The interior of the third-gen Swift will be sporty and feature upmarket design. The overall layout of the dashboard is likely to be in line with the new Dzire with a new flat-bottom steering wheel, touchscreen infotainment system and twin-pod instrument cluster. The cabin is likely to be roomier due to the new platform.
The India-spec 2018 Maruti Swift will draw power from the existing 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engine producing 82bhp and 74bhp respectively. The transmission options include a 5-speed manual or automatic gearbox. The new Swift will also come with ABS and front airbag as standard across all the variants.

The new 2018 Swift features an all-new design language while retaining the signature Swift styling. The latest pictures also suggest that the third-gen Swift will be sold through Nexa dealerships which indicates that the new hatchback will be a premium offering. Maruti Suzuki will unveil the 2018 Swift at the Auto Expo in February. Expect the launch to happen by the end of February. The third-gen Swift will rival the likes of Ford Figo and Hyundai Grand i10.
