Maruti Suzuki Sells Over Three Lakh AMT Models In India
Maruti Suzuki has announced that they have sold over 3 lakh models with the AGS transmission. The AGS was first introduced back in 2014 on the Celerio.
Maruti Suzuki has reached a new milestone in India. The company recently announced the sale of over three lakh AMT models in the Indian market.
Maruti Suzuki offers its popular AGS technology on various products in its Indian lineup. The products with AGS: Celerio, WagonR, Alto K10, Ignis, Swift, Dzire and the Vitara Brezza.
The Auto Gear Shift (AGS) technology was first introduced on the Celerio offering, back in 2014. Since then, then the sales number of products with AGS has tripled. The company now aims to sell over two lakh cars with AGS, by the end of the 2019 Fiscal year.
The Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) technology is now available on its latest offering, the Vitara Brezza. The SUV offering from India's largest carmaker is the latest to feature the automatic gearbox. The Maruti Vitara Brezza AMT was recently launched earlier this year.
R S Kalsi, Senior Executive Director, Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki, stated, "At Maruti Suzuki, we believe in providing our customers with the best of technology and convenience. The revolutionary AGS technology is one such innovation that offers comfort and ease of driving to the customers with no compromise on fuel efficiency."
"It has achieved wide acceptance among customers. Crossing 3-lakh retail sales mark within five years of its introduction is a reflection of the success and consent of the customers for the two-pedal technology. With enhanced awareness and deeper penetration, we aim to sell over 200,000 cars with AGS in 2018-19."
Maruti Suzuki sources their AMT actuator technology from Magneti Marelli. This technology is further paired with a five-speed gearbox. The company also enhances its performance to suit each model in their Indian line-up.
The company also revealed that 43 percent of the sales of the Celerio is through the AGS variants. Similarly, 28 and 17 percent of the total Ignis and Vitara Brezza models is through the AGS variants, respectively.
Thoughts On The Maruti Suzuki AGS Transmission Sales
Maruti Suzuki offers the AGS system in most of their product lineup in the country. However, there are other competitors who provide AMT transmission on their products as well. These competitors include Tata, Mahindra and Renault.
