Maruti Future S Concept Teased — To Debut At Auto Expo 2018

Maruti Suzuki has also said that with the Future S compact SUV, the carmaker has achieved the next level of design evolution with the unique design elements of the concept model. The Future S will make its public debut at the Auto Expo 2018. When launched, it will be slotted below the Vitara Brezza in the Indian market.

The report also states that the Future S compact SUV will be around 200mm shorter than the Vitara Brezza, but the overall design of the compact SUV will be a challenge for Maruti Suzuki. The Future S concept is expected to feature vertical A-pillars and the design elements which will render it a traditional SUV look.

The new Maruti S concept model will be based on the company's HEARTECT platform which also underpins the new Swift, new Dzire and Baleno. The compact SUV is expected to draw power from the tried and tested 1.2-litre petrol engine. The SUV might be offered with some electrification and it might also replace the Alto.

Maruti Suzuki is also expected to offer the new compact SUV with the new 1.5-litre diesel engine developed by Maruti Suzuki. Expect the production version of the SUV to hit the showrooms by the end of 2018 or by early 2019.

When launched in India, the new Maruti compact SUV will rival the segment leader Renault Kwid. The SUV-style design of the Kwid has played a vital role in the success of the small car. Now, Maruti Suzuki is eying the SUV segment in India and we can expect a game-changing product in the compact SUV segment.

Apart from the Future S concept model, Maruti Suzuki will also showcase the e-Survivor electric SUV concept and the next-gen Suzuki Hybrid System. But the prominent highlight of the Auto Show will be the Future S concept and the launch of the all-new Swift in the Indian market. The hatchback has been already revealed, and the only mystery is the price tag.
