Maruti Ertiga 2018 Vs Mahindra Marazzo Vs Toyota Innova Crysta: Which Is The Best MPV?
Maruti Suzuki recently launched their all-new Ertiga in the Indian market at a starting price of Rs 7.44 lakh, ex-showroom (Delhi). The new Ertiga MPV comes with a host of exterior and interior updates, including a completely fresh design. The interiors as well, comes with a new look, along with a number of additional features and equipment.
The newly launched second-generation Maruti Ertiga takes on competition from the likes of the Mahindra Marazzo and the Toyota Innova Crysta in the MPV segment. We bring you a detailed comparison of the top three MPV in the Indian market based on its design, features, engine performance and pricing.
So, let's find out how the new Maruti Ertiga compares to its main rivals; Mahindra Marazzo and the Toyota Innova Crysta.
Design
The new Maruti Ertiga comes with a completely fresh design compared to the previous generation. The MPV now features a sharper and sportier look while offering an upmarket and premium feel. The new Ertiga comes with new projector headlamps with LED DRL, a new grille with chrome inserts, fog lamps and a sporty new bumper design.
Side profile includes prominent character lines, floating roof and 15-inch alloy wheels. The rear design also features a newly designed bumper and vertically-stacked wrap-around tail lights.
The Mahindra Marazzo design is said to have been inspired by a shark. The shark-inspired theme is continued all around the MPV, including the front grille with the vertical chrome slats. The front of the Marazzo also comes with projector headlamps, LED DRLs an fog lamps. The front bumper receives black plastic cladding, as well as around the fog lamps.
The side and rear profile of the Marazzo, follow the shark-inspired theme. The side profile offers a chrome strip along the window-line, floating roof and 17-inch alloy wheels. The rear offers a shark LED tail light cluster, a thick chrome strip on the boot and a muscular rear bumper, with the black plastic cladding on the lower part.
The Toyota Innova Crysta offers a muscular design all-around the MPV. It provides an aggressive and sporty design. The front end of the Innova Crysta has a commanding profile, with sharp lines, two large chrome strips which integrate seamlessly with the LED DRLs. Projector headlamps, fog lamps and a sporty bumper are some of the other features, on the front end.
The side and profile continue with the sporty design with sharp lines. The sides come with chrome door handles, chrome strip below the windows, chrome ORVMs and 17-inch alloy wheels. The rear comes with sporty bumpers, inverted LED tail lights, roof-mounted spoiler and a shark-fin antenna.

Features
The new Maruti Ertiga comes with a host of new and additional features. The new Ertiga comes with a new seven-inch touchscreen smart infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Other features include steering-mounted audio controls, electrically-adjustable ORVMs with integrated turn indicators, dual-tone cabin, digital-analogue instrument cluster, MID with coloured TFT screen, automatic climate control, rear AC vents and remote keyless entry among others.
The Mahindra Marazzo also comes with a number of features. Some of them include a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system, dual-pod instrument cluster with MID, automatic climate control with surround cooling technology, two-captain seats for the seven-seater model, eight-way driver-seat adjustability, rear AC vents, cruise control and electrically-adjustable and foldable ORVMs.
The Toyota Innova Crysta, on the other hand, comes equipped with features such as a large touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, cruise control, premium leather seats, cooled glovebox, engine start/stop button, captain seats for the seven-seater variant and much more.

Safety
Some of the safety features on the new Maruti Ertiga: dual airbags, ABS with EBD, engine immobiliser, rear parking sensor and camera, ESP, hill hold assist, ISOFIX child seat mounts, seat-belt reminder, high-speed alert system and central locking.
Safety features on the Mahindra Marazzo: dual airbags, ABS with EBD, disc brakes on all four wheels, ISOFIX child seat mounts, rear parking camera with adaptive guideline display, impact and speed sensing door lock, engine immobiliser, car theft alarms, side impact beams & emergency calls among others.
The Toyota Innova Crysta also comes with a number of safety features, which include seven airbags, hill-start assists control, ABS with EBD, vehicle stability control, engine immobiliser, clutch start system, clearance and back sonar and back monitor and much more.

Engine Specifications & Transmission
The new Maruti Ertiga draws power from either a 1.5-litre petrol or a 1.3-litre diesel unit. Both engines further come mated to the company's SHVS (Smart Hybrid) technology. The new 1.5-litre petrol engine churns out 105bhp and 138Nm of torque. It is mated to either a five-speed manual or a four-speed torque converter transmission.
The
1.3-litre
diesel,
on
the
other
hand,
is
the
same
unit
as
seen
on
most
other
Maruti
products.
The
engine
produces
90bhp
and
200Nm
of
torque
and
is
mated
to
a
standard
five-speed
manual,
without
the
option
of
the
automatic
gearbox.
The Mahindra Marazzo is offered in a single engine option, a 1.5-litre diesel engine. It produces 121bhp and 300Nm of torque. The engine is further mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, without the automatic gearbox option.
The Toyota Innova draws power from three engine options: 2.7-litre petrol, 2.4-litre diesel and 2.8-litre diesel unit. The 2.7-litre petrol unit churns out 163bhp and 245Nm of torque. It is further mated to either a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.
Among the diesel units, the 2.4-litre engine churns out 148bhp and 343Nm of torque while the bigger 2.8-litre unit produces 171bhp and 360Nm of torque. The 2.4-litre unit is mated to the five-speed manual gearbox while the 2.8-litre comes standard with the six-speed automatic.

Mileage
The new Maruti Ertiga comes with an ARAI claimed mileage figure of 19.34km/l for the petrol manual; 18.64km/l for the petrol automatic and 25.47km/l for the diesel manual variant.
The Mahindra Marazzo claims an ARAI-certified mileage figure of 17.6km/l. The Toyota Innova Crysta offers an ARAI-certified mileage of 9.89km/l and 10.83km/l for the petrol manual and automatic, respectively. The diesel manual claims a mileage of 15.1km/l while the diesel automatic returns 14.56km/l.

The prices of the new Maruti Ertiga starts at Rs 7.44 lakh for the base variant while the top-end variant comes with a price tag of Rs 10.90 lakh. The Maruti Ertiga is available in five basic trims and ten variants.
The Mahindra Marazzo is available in four variants and has a base price of Rs 9.99 lakh while the top-spec is priced at 13.90 lakh.
The Toyota Innova Crysta is the most expensive offering in the MPV segment and has a starting price of Rs 14.65 lakh for the base variant. The top-spec model is priced at Rs 22.01 lakh. The MPv is available in three variants.

Verdict
The new Maruti Ertiga is the most affordable MPV among its competitors. If you are looking for a budget SUV with all the necessary features and more, then the new Maruti Ertiga is the best option. The Mahindra Marazzo is for those who are looking for a bit more, in terms of styling features and power. Mahindra is also said to be introducing a petrol version of the MPV and an AMT gearbox soon.
However, if the price isn't an issue, then the Toyota Innova Crysta is the best option of the three. The MPV offers a host of features and is the most premium MPV in the segment today.
