Maruti Baleno Achieves New Sales Milestone In India
India's leading automaker Maruti Suzuki launched the Baleno premium hatchback in the country in October 2015. Since its launch, the Maruti Baleno was a consistent seller for Maruti Suzuki. Now, the Maruti Baleno has achieved a new milestone by selling four lakh units in less than three years.
The Maruti Baleno becomes the first premium hatchback to record such a sales milestone. The Maruti Baleno also played a vital role in the success of the Nexa premium dealerships. Currently, the Maruti Baleno is the best-selling premium hatchback in the country.
Apart from the domestic sales, the Maruti Baleno is also exported to several global markets such as Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Europe and Latin America. The India-made Baleno is also the first car to be exported to Japan. The Baleno has been a strong performer with the hatchback selling over 20,000 units in April 2018.
Despite the launch of the new Swift in India, the popularity of Baleno has not deterred. The reason for the success of the Baleno in India is its affordable price tag. The Baleno also comes loaded with features which attract the buyers. The Baleno also looks aggressive and sporty and it is popular among the young buyers.
The Maruti Baleno is available with two engine options: a 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.3-litre turbocharged diesel engine. The petrol engine produces 83bhp and 115Nm of torque and the diesel engine churns out 75bhp and 190Nm of peak torque.
Transmission options include a 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT unit on the petrol engine and the diesel engine is available only with the 5-speed manual gearbox. The Maruti Baleno is offered in four trim levels: Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. The Maruti Baleno is priced between Rs 5.35 lakh to Rs 8.49 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi).
