Mahindra & Mahindra launched the Bolero SUV in India in 2000 and since then the company has introduced two generations of the SUV with several updates. Now, Mahindra has announced that the Bolero has crossed 10 lakh unit sales after 18 years of its launch.
The current-gen Bolero is quite old and even though the SUV is still going strong in the Indian market. The Bolero is selling in good numbers and has also featured in the top ten list of passenger vehicles in March 2018 and registered a year-on-year growth of 23 percent.
Most of the sales of the Bolero comes from the rural market. The Bolero emerged as a best-selling SUV in India for ten years in a row and now it is the third best-selling SUV in the country.
Currently, the Bolero is available in eight variants and with two engine options. The Mahindra Bolero is offered with two diesel engine options, a 1.5-litre engine producing 70bhp and 195Nm of torque and a 2.5-litre unit churning out 63bhp and 190Nm of torque.
One of the significant reason for the success of the Bolero was the launch of Power+ model with the 1.5-litre engine which is more efficient. The Mahindra Bolero Power+ comes loaded with features such as a digital display, micro-hybrid technology and driver display.
Veejay Ram Nakra, Chief of Sales & Marketing, Automotive Division, M&M said, "Bolero has regained its position in the top 10 passenger vehicles in India, which is a validation of the confidence consumers, in semi-urban and rural India, have reposed on the brand."
Nakra also said that the launch of the Bolero+ also played a vital role in achieving the 10 lakh milestones. He also said that the company is confident that the Bolero will continue to be a popular SUV on the Indian roads in the years to come.

The Mahindra Bolero is a versatile SUV which suits the Indian conditions, especially in the rural market. Due to its simple design, practicality and affordable price tag, the Bolero has been the choice of Indian buyers. Now, after 18 years of its launch, the Bolero has crossed 10 lakh sales milestone.
