Mahindra Alturas G4 Launch Highlights: Launched At Rs 26.95 Lakh
Mahindra is all set to launch the new Alturas G4 in India today. The Mahindra Alturas G4 is based on the fourth-generation Ssangyong Rexton, sold in global markets. Once launched, the Alturas will be the flagship product in Mahindra's product portfolio.
The new Mahindra Alturas G4 comes in two variants: 2WD AT and 4WD AT. It has a bold and commanding presence, including the signature Mahindra grille. The usage of chrome is kept to a minimum and the Alturas G4 is quite an elegant-looking SUV.
On the inside, the Alturas G4 gets a host of features and equipment. It impresses well in the safety department too, with nine airbags as standard. We have already driven it — check out our official Mahindra Alturas G4 review here.
Powering the new Mahindra Alturas G4 is a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine making 178bhp and 420Nm of torque. This is mated to a Mercedes-sourced seven-speed automatic transmission.
Being a premium SUV, the Alturas G4 also gets many intelligent off-road modes and functions. This includes the rather-interesting Winter, Summer, 4WD Low and 4WD High settings.
Bookings have been opened already and the response on the market is quite good. The Mahindra Alturas G4 mainly rivals the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and the newly-launched Honda CR-V.

While we tested out the new Alturas G4, we were really pleased with how the large SUV drives. Undulations and potholes cause zero troubles to it.
Supportive Front Seats
The front seats offer brilliant support and comfort, but only the driver the seat gets eight-way adjustability with memory functions.
Spacious Middle-Row Seating
The middle-row seats offer ample amounts of legroom and headroom. The central passenger gets a headrest, while the armrest is really wide.

Getting into the third-row seats of the Alturas G4 is a hurdle, but once you do that, you will notice quite a decent amount of cabin space. Still, it is not suited for tall passengers.
No Panoramic Sunroof
Though a panoramic sunroof would have been better, the Mahindra Alturas G4 has a decently-sized front sunroof, with anti-pinch.
Gets No Manual Option
The Mahindra Alturas G4 comes only in an automatic format, while the Rexton is available with a six-speed manual in certain global markets. The seven-speed automatic transmission is sourced from Mercedes-Benz.
