American automaker Ford has retained its top spot in the exports as the Ford EcoSport emerged as the most exported passenger vehicle in India. ETAuto reports that Ford EcoSport is the most exported car in the financial year 2017-18.
Ford India exported 90,599 units of the EcoSport compact SUV between April 2017 to March 2018. Ford had also topped the export list in the financial year 2017 by exporting 79,539 units. In the financial year 2018, the exports of Ford EcoSport grew by 13.91 percent.
General Motors occupied the second position in the list with its Beat hatchback. The company exported 83,140 units of Beat. Volkswagen dropped a position as compared to the previous fiscal and stood at the third position. The German automaker exported 77,005 units of the Vento in the FY2018.
Ford's other two models, the Figo and the Figo Aspire also made it to the top ten exported car list. The Figo's export stood at 61,241 units while the Figo Aspire accounted for 29,308 units. The Ford Figo occupied the fourth spot while the Figo Aspire slotted in the ninth position.
Hyundai's best-selling SUV, the Creta is the fifth most exported passenger vehicle in India. Hyundai exported 50,820 units of Creta. The Hyundai Grand i10 stands at sixth position with 44,907 export units. Both the Hyundai models witnessed slight negative growth in the exports as compared to the previous financial year.
The seventh position is occupied by India's leading automaker Maruti Suzuki. The exports of the Maruti Baleno stood at 41,433. Maruti's another model, the Ignis made it into the top ten list and stands in the tenth position. The export figures for the Maruti Ignis stood at 22,969 units.
The Nissan Sunny is the eighth most exported car in the financial year 2018. Nissan exported 34,075 units of the sedan. The Nissan Micra failed to make it to the list. Another prominent fact is that there is no Indian brand in the list as the export segment is dominated by the foreign automakers.
Thoughts On The Most Exported Car From India
Ford EcoSport has been one of the best-selling compact SUV in the Indian market and Ford has replicated the same in the exports too. The American automaker is looking to further strengthen its exports by shipping the newly launched Freestyle crossover hatchback.
