Ford Aspire Electric Sedan In The Works — Launch Details Revealed
Ford Aspire electric sedan to be launched in India: Ford and Mahindra are working on the electric version of the Aspire sedan which will be launched in Indian in 2019.
We had already reported about Ford and Mahindra joining hands for electrification and future technology. Now, more details about this joint venture have been revealed. ET Auto reports that the first product from the collaboration will be the Aspire Electric Vehicle (EV). The Ford Aspire EV might be introduced in the Indian market as early as next year.
Apart from the electric version of the Aspire sedan, Ford and Mahindra are working on a new platform to develop an SUV which is intended to be sold in two variants, one for Ford and the other one for Mahindra. The report also states that Mahindra has helped Ford to develop the Aspire EV.
According to a source, Ford has benefitted from Mahindra's electric vehicle technology, and the Aspire EV will be the first product to hit the road. The source also revealed that the electric version of the Aspire sedan would be longer as compared to the petrol/diesel version which is under four metre.

Ford and Mahindra have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in September 2017 for exploring electrification and modern technology. Now, with Mahindra's expertise in the electric vehicle technology, Ford will introduce its affordable electric vehicle in the Indian market. As of now, the details of the Ford Aspire EV are scarce.
We expect that the Ford Aspire EV will borrow plenty of components from the Verito Electric sedan. The Mahindra eVerito has a driving range of 110km with the running-cost as low as Rs 1.15/km. The electric sedan is equipped with 72V lithium-ion battery with a fast charging option. But Ford will tweak the powertrain so that it can be used in the Aspire.
Both the companies have also started developing an all-new SUV which is still in a very advanced stage. The report also states that the design of the SUV will be different for Ford and Mahindra and the companies will go by their brand philosophies. Now, Ford becomes the latest manufacturer to join the EV bandwagon.

Electric vehicles are said to be the future of mobility, and several global manufacturers are working on developing affordable electric cars. Now, Ford has cracked the code by joining hands with Mahindra, which has been a pioneer in EVs in India. The Ford Aspire will be an affordable offering in the EV segment in the Indian market. Tata Motors is also readying its Tigor EV, and things are getting better in the electric vehicle segment.
