Force Gurkha Xtreme To Be Launched In India — Technical Details Revealed
Force Motors is all set to introduce a new variant of the Gurkha special utility vehicle. Autocar India reports that the new variant of the off-roader will be called as Force Gurkha Xtreme. The Force Gurkha Xtreme will be based on the three-door version of the Xplorer model.
The Force Gurkha Xtreme will be available in hard-top and soft-top variants. The exterior design of the Gurkha Xtreme will be similar to the currently sold model but it will feature major changes to the mechanical components. The prominent highlight will be the bump in power output.
The Force Gurkha Xtreme will draw power from a Mercedes-Benz OM611-derived 2.2-litre diesel engine producing 138bhp and 321Nm of torque. The 2.2-litre diesel unit replaces the 2.6-litre engine developing 84bhp and 230Nm of torque.
The new Force Gurkha Xtreme will also get a new Mercedes-Benz G32 5-speed manual gearbox. Other components include a low-range transfer case and front and rear differential locks similar to the standard model. The Gurkha Xtreme will also feature an upgraded suspension to improve the performance.
The revamped suspension on the Force Gurkha Xtreme will improve the approach, departure and ramp breakover angles as compared to the standard variant. The ground clearance of the Gurkha Xtreme stands at 205mm and has a water wading depth of 550mm.
The report states that the Force Gurkha Xtreme will be launched in the Indian market in June 2018 and the dealers have already started accepting bookings. The Gurkha Xtreme will be dearer than the Gurkha Xplorer as it is a hardcore off-roader. Expect the Gurkha Xtreme to be priced around Rs 14 lakh.
Thoughts On The Force Gurkha Xtreme
The Force Gurkha Xtreme will be a hardcore off-road vehicle with improved power figures. The Gurkha Xtreme will be a fitting rival to the Mahindra Thar with the upgraded mechanical components. The off-road vehicle is a niche segment in the country and the Gurkha Xtreme will try to attract the small yet growing group of buyers.
