BMW M2 Competition Listed On Indian Website — The Best Modern M-Car Should Launch In India Soon!
BMW M2 Competition To Launch Soon: BMW India has officially listed their entry-level M-performance model – the M2 Competition – on the official website. Though BMW has not shared an India-launch date for the M2, we expect it to happen this festive season. The BMW M2 Competition showcases some extra styling bits and more performance compared to the regular variant.
The BMW M2 looks both fun and aggressive with its sculpted bumper and sharp-looking design elements. The front kidney grille has a gloss black finish and the bonnet looks muscular.
The side profile shows a short wheelbase and a distinct shoulder line. The M2 Competition rides on a set of black 10-spoke alloys compared to the regular model's 19-inch five-spoke units.
The rear profile is complete with an embossing bumper and quad-exhausts. The single ‘M2' badge also adds to the sportiness.
Inside, the BMW M2 Competition gets a mix of Alcantara, leather and carbon fibre details. The BMW iDrive infotainment system is supported by a Harman Kardon audio system, host of apps and built-in satellite navigation.
The M-Sport leather plus Alcantara seats offer good support and are brilliant to look at. There is a bench seat at the rear too.
The BMW M2 has got compact dimensions and is mechanically similar to the M3 and M4. For the same reason, the car is dynamically well-capable and offers a really good driving experience. In short, it stays true to BMW's slogan – ‘Designed for driving pleasure'.
The BMW M2 Competition is powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged straight-six engine that makes 400bhp and 550Nm of torque. The unit comes mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and all the power is sent to the rear wheels.
The sportscar can do a 0-100km/h sprint in 4.2 seconds and can attain a top speed of 250km/h (limited). Buyers can also opt the optional ‘M2 Driver's Package' which increases the top speed to 280km/h.
The BMW M2 Competition rivals the Porsche 718 Cayman, Mercedes-AMG SLC 43 and the Audi RS5. There are no words about the pricing of the M2 yet. However, we expect it to be around Rs 85 lakh ex-showroom. If that is indeed correct, the BMW M2 Competition could just be the best sportscar available in India.
Thoughts On The BMW M2 Competition
Enthusiasts have been long awaiting for the BMW M2 to be launched in India. Now that BMW India has officially listed the M2 on their website, we can finally expect a launch in the near future. Purists and BMW aficionados claim that the BMW M2 – the cheapest M-car – is the best modern M-car, primarily due to the driving experience it offers.
As per sources, the India-bound BMW M2 Competition will also have a full-size spare, unlike its foreign siblings. So, are you excited about the best M-car or maybe, the best sportscar in India?
