Exclusive Motors, the dealers of Bentley in India, has showcased the all-new Continental GT in Bangalore for potential customers and automotive enthusiasts to get closer to the iconic British Grand Tourer. The event was held at Oakwood Premier Prestige, UB City on Vittal Mallya Road.
Priced at Rs 3.70 crore ex-showroom (before options), the new Bentley Continental GT is one of the most luxurious 2+2 seater coupes, ever to come from Europe. The latest iteration also packs the best mix of elegance, exclusivity and performance.
Compared to the previous version, the 2018 Continental GT is developed using a unique Foam Aluminium process. This has helped the car to follow a sharper design language compared to the previous model; evident from the distinct creases and grooves on the fenders and the iconic ‘Bentley haunches' at the back.
The example seen here has got a lot of options added to it, including the Bentley Mulliner package which bumps the leather usage a notch higher. Unique details such as the advanced lighting technology (more than 80 LEDs in the headlamp), the traditional Bentley grille, 21-inch five-spoke wheels and the minimal yet opulent usage of chrome add to the overall appeal.
Inside, every element has been crafted carefully to provide the best visual experience. In this particular Continental GT, the dashboard follows a three-tone layout comprising of the finest wood, piano black panels and beige leather. Chrome highlights which run across the interiors seta special theme as well.
The hand-stitched leather leaves no space for flaws and is on par with a machine-stitched job. In fact, Bentley has a dedicated department for making one of the best leather interiors in the entire automotive industry.
Further drama is added by the unique and most talked-about feature of the new Continental GT — the triple display layout. When the car is turned on, the 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system rotates to appearance on the central panel. A press on the ‘SCREEN' button beneath will hide it away and bring three analogue units: thermometer, compass and chronometer.
While the highly-reputed Bang & Olufsen audio system comes as standard, the 18-speaker 2,200W Naim audio system is something music lovers would never regret having. Naim audio systems were part of Bentley's product range since 2008.
The new Bentley Continental GT is powered by a 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged W12 engine which makes 626bhp and 900Nm of torque. The torque-rich engine is mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission which drives all four wheels.
Combined, the two-tonne car can easily hit 100km/h in just 3.3 seconds while the top speed is electronically limited to 333km/h. Bentley claims that it's a luxurious supercar meant for daily use and unlike a Ferrari or a Lamborghini, the Continental GT is a unique and tasteful asset to own.
Thoughts On The Bentley Continental GT
The Bentley Continental GT has always been regarded as one of the pinnacles of automotive luxury and craftsmanship in a sporty package. Other Bentley models such as the Flying Spur, Mulsanne and the Bentayga SUV have sold in decent figures over the past months and with this showcase, Bentley India can surely expect some more valuable customers.
