Yamaha To Unveil New Concept Car At Tokyo Motor Show
Yamaha is all set to unveil its new concept car at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show.
Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer Yamaha has revealed that it will showcase a new concept car at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show.
Yamaha has described the concept as an automobile, but Autocar reports that it will be a two-seater sports car built using iStream manufacturing technology developed by McLaren F1 designer Gordon Murray.
Yamaha has been keen to launch its first car since it showcased the Motiv city car concept in 2013. It was followed by the Sports Ride concept in 2015 which will give a better idea about the new concept car set to be unveiled in Tokyo.
The previous concept models of Yamaha have been built using Murray's iStream manufacturing process which uses carbon fibre for lower production costs in high volume cars. The cost of producing the chassis depends on the number of cars being produced.

The new mid-engined concept car from Yamaha is likely to draw power from a 1-litre three-cylinder, turbocharged engine which made its debut with the Motiv city car concept. The engine is expected to produce a power output of more than 100bhp.
But Yamaha is yet to decide on whether its first road car will be based on the Sports Ride concept or the Motiv city car. If at all the concept model enters production, it will be manufactured in Europe.

Yamaha was keen to introduce its first car since 2013 with the debut of the Motiv city car. But it was just a concept and it was same with the Sports Ride concept. But we expect that the third concept car will go beyond just being a concept. We have to wait for the Tokyo Motor Show to get more details of Yamaha's new four-wheeler concept.
