Volvo XC60 Polestar Revealed With 415bhp — Swedish Safety With A Hint Of Crazy
Volvo has revealed the Polestar performance upgrades for four variants of its XC60 SUV.
Swedish carmaker Volvo has revealed the Polestar upgrade package for its XC60 SUV. The upgrade package has been developed by Polestar, Volvo's performance brand along with motorsport partner Cyan Racing.
The Polestar upgrade package ups performance for five XC60 variants — D4, D5, T5, T6 and the top-of-the-line T8. Volvo claims that the upgrades to the powertrains on offer "transform engine performance, throttle response, off-throttle response, gearshift speed and hold" and improve mid-range torque delivery.
The top-spec Volvo XC60 T8's hybrid setup of a 2.0-litre supercharged and turbocharged engine along with an electric motor has received a bump in performance from 401bhp to 415bhp. While Volvo has not revealed any performance figures for the new T8 Polestar, expect the SUV to beat its less powerful sibling's 0–100kph sprint time of 5.3 seconds.
Volvo also claims that despite the extra power the new XC60 T8 Polestar will still return a mileage of 47.4kpl. The XC60 T8 Polestar also retains the regular XC60 T8's electric only range of 45 kilometres.
Other variants of the new XC60 have also received power upgrades varying between five to 10bhp. Torque has also risen by 20 to 50Nm depending on the variant specified by the owner.
