Volvo's Smallest SUV XC40 Is All Set To Be Launched In India — Listed On Company's India Site
Volvo XC40 India launch details revealed.
Swedish luxury carmaker Volvo has revealed that its smallest SUV, the XC40, is all set to be launched in India. Volvo has listed the XC40 in its India site and the launch is expected around mid-2018.
The new Volvo XC40 will rival the likes of Audi Q3, BMW X1 and Mercedes-Benz GLA. The India-bound Volvo XC40 will be initially available with a choice of two engines: a 188bhp, 2.0-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine (D4) and a 245bhp, 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol unit (T5), reports Autocar India.

Both the engines will come mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox, and the all-wheel-drive system will be offered as standard. The company will bring the 148bhp, 2.0-litre diesel engine (D3) at a later stage with front-wheel drive.

The new Volvo XC40 is the first model underpinned by the company's Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform. The SUV's styling is inspired by the 40 Series concepts that were showcased in May 2016.
The new XC40 features an upright front grille similar to the newly launched XC60 and LED headlights and Thor's hammer-shaped daytime running lights. The proportions are compact, raised ride height, and short overhangs are apparent when observed in side profile.
At the rear, the XC40 gets a raked rear windshield and an integrated roof spoiler, the SUV also gets dual-tone rear bumper with twin chrome exhausts and blacked out roof along with the L-shaped LED taillamps.
Inside the cabin of the SUV, the XC40 gets a three-spoke steering wheel and a digital instrument panel. An extensive, vertically oriented touchscreen infotainment system along with vertical air-conditioning vents with chrome trim sits on the centre console.
The new XC40 diesel D4 will be available in Momentum and Inscription variants, while the petrol T5 will be offered with a single trim, R-Design. The SUV will come loaded with features such as ABS with EBD, airbags, radar-based safety systems such as city safety, pilot assist, adaptive cruise control, various collision mitigation systems and blind spot information system (BLIS).
There is also 'First Edition' variants which get active headlights, power tailgate and Harman audio system among others are features. The Volvo XC40 will come to India via the completely built unit (CBU) route and is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 35 lakh to Rs 40 lakh.
