Next-Generation Volkswagen Polo Based Virtus Sedan Teased Ahead Of Launch
Volkswagen Virtus teased ahead of launch.
All-new Volkswagen Polo made its global debut in July 2017, and now the German carmaker has teased the new Polo-based sedan Virtus.
While the Volkswagen Virtus teaser is just a sketch, it gives us an idea of the silhouette of the sedan. The VW Virtus is based on the MQB A0 chassis which underpins the all-new Volkswagen Polo and will be employed on all future hatchbacks, cross-hatches, SUVs and sedans from the carmaker.
Going by the teaser, the VW Virtus gets stylish alloy wheels, the shape of the headlamps seems to resemble the family style, and the front bumper looks chunky. At the rear, the tail lights are all-wrap around with a new design for the rear bumper.
Inside the cabin of the Virtus, the components and equipment are similar to the new-gen Polo and the dual-screen dashboard is expected to be offered on the sedan.
The Volkswagen Virtus is expected to make its debut in the South American market and will feature two engines, a 1.6-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine producing 115bhp and 162Nm of torque mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The other engine will be a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged petrol unit developing 126bhp and 200Nm of torque married to a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
There is no word if the Volkswagen Virtus will come to India, but Volkswagen and Skoda are developing a new low-cost 'Eco' platform for India. This platform will underpin several other new vehicles of VW and Skoda for India as well as for other emerging markets in the world.
DriveSpark Thinks!
The Volkswagen Virtus, which is based on the all-new Polo hatchback, looks more like a sedan than a compact sedan like the Ameo in India. If launched in India, the Virtus is expected to sit between the Vento and the new Passat.
