Volkswagen T-Roc Revealed — Compact SUV Competition Intensifies
Volkswagen T-Roc compact SUV revealed. The Golf platform based SUV can be pre-ordered in the UK from September.
The two-wheeler category of the automotive world sees adventure motorcycles as the new trend, and in the four-wheeler segment, compact SUVs are the thing. Volkswagen has revealed the much-talked about T-Roc compact SUV.
The Volkswagen T-Roc features a bold design language, with a squarish front fascia and flared wheel arches. The T-Roc is built on the same platform as the Golf, but scuff plates and plastic cladding, along with a bold shoulder line give the T-Roc all the necessary ingredients to be a compact SUV.
The T-Roc will be offered with six engine options, three petrol and three diesel:
Petrol Options
- 1.0-litre engine with 113bhp, 6-speed manual gearbox, front-wheel drive
- 1.5-litre engine with 148bhp, 6-speed manual or 7-speed DSG, optional all-wheel drive
- 2.0-litre engine with 187bhp, DSG gearbox and all-wheel drive standard
- 1.6-litre engine with 113bhp, 6-speed manual gearbox, front-wheel drive
- 2.0-litre engine with 148bhp, 6-speed manual or 7-speed DSG, optional all-wheel drive
- 2.0-litre engine with 187bhp, DSG gearbox and all-wheel drive standard
Diesel Options
The exterior and interior of the T-Roc can be specced up as per customer needs, thanks to the carmaker's customisation options. The exterior can be had with dual tone paint jobs, while the interior can have contrasting stitches to match the exterior.
All the models of the Volkswagen T-Roc will come with a standard 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with an optional glass encased 8.0-inch display, compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The instrument cluster can be swapped for an 11.7-inch display too.
In the UK, the T-Roc can be pre-ordered coming September, and the new compact SUV from the German carmaker is expected to hit the roads by December. Pricing is yet to be announced.
DriveSpark Thinks!
The Volkswagen T-Roc is expected to give Peugeot, Mini, and Nissan a run for their money in this segment in the international markets. In India, we will have to see if the carmaker decides if the T-Roc is worth introducing.
