Volkswagen Passat Design & Features
The new Volkswagen Passat looks sharper and more aggressive compared to the car it replaces with sleek LED headlights with integrated DRLs and cornering lights flanking the triple-slat front grille. The front bumper features fog lamps with chrome surround on either side of the car.
On the side, the Passat features a strong character line that runs across from the front wheel arch to the tail lights. The wheel arches play host to either 16-inch or 17-inch alloy wheels.
The rear end of the Passat looks sculpted and the dark red LED tail lights feature a distinct C-shaped pattern. Also present is a rear fog light and sculpted bumper.
Inside, the Passat sports an-all black interior with leather upholstery. The dash and doors feature ornamental inserts in either pine or ash wood which adds to the premium look of the car while the centre console features piano black inserts and the A/C vents sport chrome trim.
The Passat plays host to a 12.3-inch TFT digital instrument cluster and a touchscreen infotainment system that brings connectivity options including Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth while acting as a display for the parking cameras.
Other major features on the Pasat include hands-free parking, a large panoramic sunroof, 3-zone climate control, front seats with memory function, electronic adjustment and lumbar support with driver's seat getting the massage function as well.
In terms of safety, the new VW Passat gets nine airbags, ABS, ASR and EDL along with Hill start assist and electronic parking brake.
The new Volkswagen Passat comes packed with a host of features and at an attractive price which should help it keep pace with rivals like the Honda Accord, Toyota Camry and the Skoda Superb. While the lack of a hybrid may puzzle some, the government's apathy towards them with high GST rates could be the reason why VW ditched the eco-friendly option for the Passat.
