A week ago, we reported that Ford India is readying up for the launch of its slightly tweaked compact SUV, the Ecosport in India. The new update for the model is expected to rejuvenate the sales and keep the product fresh until the launch of next-gen Ecosport by the end of this year.
The main feature that is added to the minor update version of the Ecosport is an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The new system will offer satellite navigation, Bluetooth, reverse camera, etc.
Only the top variants, Titanium+ Ecoboost and the Titanium+ diesel will be offered with the new infotainment system. Ford will also hike the prices of these models by Rs 20,000. The new prices are Rs 9.89 lakh and 10.19 lakh respectively.
Along with the new infotainment system, the Ecosport will also get 17-inch alloy wheels and a complete black roof. Many reports also suggest that Ford will weed out some features like lumbar support, leather-wrapped handbrake, cooled glove box, etc depending upon the model.
Other changes are, the base and mid-variants will not feature rear defogger, vanity lamp, driver seat height adjust, reclining rear seats, rear wash and wipe. These features are expected to be limited to the top-of-the-line variants.
However, the model will use the same engine options as the ongoing models. The updated Ecosport will be powered by a 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine, a 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engine and a 1.5-litre Ti-VCT petrol engine.
