Uber Hikes Fares By 50 Percent In Delhi NCR
Uber has hike prices in the Delhi NCR region by up to 50 percent for its base service, UberGo.
Uber, the US based taxi aggregator service has hiked prices for 'UberGo', the company's entry-level; offering in India by up to 50 percent in the capital region of Delhi NCR.
In an official statement, Uber has stated that the company has increased the minimum price for UberGo from Rs 40 to Rs 60. The ride time charge has also been increased from Re 1 to Rs 1.5 per minute.
After the price hike, Uber rides will now cost Rs 6 for the first 20 kilometers, and post that distance, Uber will charge customers Rs 12 per kilometer. The ride-time charges have been increased for ‘UberPool' and ‘UberX' services.
The hike in prices has not been received well by customers in Delhi, because Uber is a preferred choice when it comes to ride services because cashless transactions are possible, especially at a time when cash is an issue after the demonetization.
Customers have even taken to social media platforms like Twitter to voice out their opinion, and some have even said Uber is being very opportunistic.
