TVR To Debut 322km/h Sports Car At Goodwood Revival In September
TVR released a teaser image and revealed a few details for its upcoming sports car which is set to be revealed at the Goodwood Revival on 08 September, 2017.
Much to the delight of enthusiasts, British sports car manufacturer TVR has announced that they would be revealing a new car. The new sports car will be revealed on September 8, 2017 at the Goodwood Revival.
The announcement by TVR is a homecoming of sorts for the brand. The new car brings back to memories the good old days when British manufacturers went all out to deliver the next best sports car. The event at which it will be revealed as well as the collaborations in place to develop this car just increase the nostalgia.
The Goodwood Revival is a three-day festival held every September since 1998, at the Goodwood Circuit in the UK. It is a competitive showcasing event for the road racing cars and motorcycles that competed between 1948 and 1966, the circuit's original period. It is one of the world's most popular motoring events and the only one in the UK which tries to recreate what some call the golden era of motorsport.
While revealing the car at Goodwood itself was enough to make a motorsport enthusiast go weak in the knees, TVR went ahead and announced that they had collaborated with Gordon Murray Design and Cosworth for this new car. Old school motorsport enthusiasts might just be drooling right now. Reports suggest that the new TVR would have part-carbon construction, and would be manufactured using their Gordon Murray Design's iStream manufacturing process.
For the uninitiated, the head of Gordon Murray Design, Gordon Murray himself had designed the legendary McLaren F1. So this means, the new TVR will look brilliant. The teaser image sent out by TVR though, shows nothing more than the large exhaust tip at the side of the car and a glimpse of a wheel.
Back in the ‘Golden Era', Cosworth was a byword for high performance, as road cars with Cosworth badging were usually very fast, and Cosworth engines in race cars usually brought the team a trophy. The new TVR will be powered by a 5.0-litre V8 developed by Cosworth. Excited much?
While official power figures have not yet been announced, reports have emerged that the new TVR, with a weight of around 1,200kgs would have a power-to-weight ratio of about 400bhp per tonne.
Production of the new TVR would be limited to 500 units, and as per reports, around 300 customers have already put up deposits for the car. We are not sure if the car would run at the Goodwood Revival, but this would be the first time a manufacturer is revealing a new car at the event.
