Toyota Vios India Launch Details Revealed
Toyota will debut the Vios compact sedan at the 2018 Auto Expo in Febraury 2018. The India launch will take place by April 2018.
Japanese car manufacturer Toyota is finally introducing the much anticipated compact sedan, the Vios in the Indian market. The car will be showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo in the country.
According to a report from CarAndBike, Toyota Kirloskar Motor will showcase the Vios at the 2018 Auto Expo in February. The market launch and official price announcement will happen in April 2018.
The Vios has been spotted several times testing on the Indian roads. The 2017 facelifted iteration of the car has been already launched in Thailand and other foreign markets.
The front fascia of the Toyota Vios features V-shaped muscular front grille; eyebrow shaped LED parking lights and vertical daytime running lights on either side of the bumper.
The rear of the Vios features a compact design with sleek tail lights and chrome strip running across the boot lid. Overall the car looks sharply designed and will be a fierce competitor in the Indian market.
The interior of the Vios sports a touchscreen infotainment system with connectivity options and a premium looking dashboard. It will be interesting to see what features will the India-spec model have.
The safety features on the Vios include ABS with EBD, dual airbags, traction control ISOFIX mounts for child seats and the top of the range model may also feature brake assist and ESP.
The Thailand-spec Vios is offered with a 1.5-litre petrol engine which produces 106bhp and 140Nm of torque. The engine is mated to Toyota's new 7-speed Super CVT gearbox. In other markets, there is a 5-speed manual gearbox too, which is likely to come to India.
The Vios is not offered with a diesel engine in foreign markets, but it is expected that India will get a diesel variant powered by a .1.4-litre oil burner which is deployed in the currently sold Etios and Corolla.
Once launched in India, the Vios will take on its segment rivals such as Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai Verna, Skoda Rapid and Volkswagen Vento.
