Toyota Might Announce New Sports Car Division Next Month
Toyota is reported to unveil a new sports car division similar to the Lexus F series models.
Toyota Motor Corp. is set to unveil a new sports car division in September 2017 that will be similar to Toyota's Lexus F-Series.
The Japanese carmaker plans to announce what it refers to as "new sports car series" at an event next month in Japan. It is unclear if new products will be offered outside of Japan. The new Toyota sports car series is likely to be spearheaded by the new Toyota Supra. If the new sports series is successful, Toyota might offer a same lineup under the Toyota Racing Development (TRD) badge stateside.
Earlier this year, Toyota said it would strengthen its lineup of GRMN (Gazoo Racing tuned by the Meister of Nurburgring) offerings, which are specially tuned sporty editions of Toyota-brand production cars.
At the 2017 Geneva auto show, Toyota unveiled a supercharged GRMN version of its Yaris subcompact as its entry into the hot hatch segment.
DriveSpark Thinks!
Toyota is attempting to breathe fresh air into its lineup of what many call boring, emotionless cars with the new sports car series. For India, though it could be sometime before we get to experience Toyota Sports Cars.
