Toyota C-HR Scores Five Stars For Safety — The Perfect SUV For India?

The Toyota C-HR crossover has scored five stars for safety, according to a test conducted by ANCAP.

The Toyota C-HR is making news in India, and the Japanese carmaker is scheduled to launch the crossover in the country. As per the latest crash test conducted by the Australian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP), the C-HR has scored five stars for safety.

In the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) test, the Toyota C-HR scored 33.18 out of 38 points and for the Child Occupant Protection (COP) test, the C-HR managed to score 38.03 points out of 49 points.

In the ‘Safety Assist' test, the Toyota C-HR scored well in all aspects such as seat belt reminders, lane support system, and Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB). Standard safety features on the Toyota C-HR in Australia include seven airbags, AEB, Lane Support Systems (LSS), and pre-crash systems.

Now, since the C-HR is to be launched in India either during the end of this year or the beginning of 2018, the question arises — will the C-HR score five stars for safety here as well? Some safety features aboard the Australian-spec model will not make it to India due to limitations, but we sure hope safety is a prime concern for Toyota when the C-HR is launched here.

Moving on, the Toyota C-HR is powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that makes 114bhp and 185Nm of torque, paired to a 6-speed manual or a CVT gearbox in Europe. All-wheel drive is also offered as an option.
