The Maruti Brezza continues to lead the list with sales of 13,268 units in September 2017. The demand for the Brezza increased by 41 percent compared to September 2016, when it sold 9,375 units.

The Maruti Brezza has given the company not only a new lease in the segment, but it has also increased the company's market share in the industry.

Maruti launched the Brezza with a diesel engine and no petrol option; however, the Indian buyers have taken to the liking of the Brezza due to its proportionate design and competitive pricing.

The Maruti Brezza is available in 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine producing 89bhp and 200Nm of torque mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The claims the Maruti Brezza a mileage of 24.3kpl.

Hyundai Creta

The Hyundai Creta is currently the best-selling vehicle for the Korean carmaker in India. Hyundai has sold 9,262 units of the Creta compared to 8,835 units in September 2016.

Mahindra & Mahindra's tried and tested Bolero continues to be the top-selling utility vehicle for the home-grown carmaker. The Bolero continues to perform well, especially the rural markets leading the sales.

Mahindra sold 8,930 units in September 2017 compared to 5,744 units in the same month on 2016. Mahindra has entered the sub-4 meter segment with the introduction of the Bolero Power+ to compete in the sub-compact SUV segment in India.

While a 1.5-litre diesel engine powers the Mahindra Bolero Power+, the regular model is powered by a 2.5-litre diesel unit. Both the engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Another best-seller from Mahindra is the Scorpio SUV, which sold 6,260 units in September 2017, which is incidentally the highest sale for the Mahindra Scorpio.

Launched to compete with the likes of Tata Safari, the Mahindra Scorpio continues to perform well when the market has moved to compact SUVs. Much of its appeal comes from its butch styling and its 4x4 capabilities.

The Mahindra Scorpio's base model comes powered by a 2.5-litre M2CRDE diesel engine producing 75bhp and 180Nm of torque mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The powerful versions employ the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel unit which churns out 120bhp and 320Nm of torque.
