American electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Tesla is all set to reveal its semi truck. Tesla boss Elon Musk has revealed the unveiling date of the electric semi-truck on Twitter.
Tesla's new semi-truck will be unveiled on October 26, 2017.Musk also revealed that the test drives would be offered at the SpaceX facility in Hawthorne.
Tesla revealed its ambitious plan to build an electric semi-truck in its second part of the ‘master plan' in July 2016. Musk elaborated that an electric truck would reduce the transportation cost of the cargo and also boost safety.
No details of the semi-truck have been revealed yet, but previously Musk stated that it would be a heavy duty, long range, high torque semi-truck designed to haul heavy loads.
Previously, Musk had stated that the semi-truck would be unveiled in September. But now it looks like Tesla has done enough work on the semi-truck and all set to debut its new creation.
Tesla is not the first company to unveil an electric truck. American engine maker Cummins has already revealed its electric heavy-duty truck concept in August 2017. But it will be interesting to see what will be the range of the Tesla semi truck.
Tesla is entering the commercial vehicle segment with its new semi-truck. But it all depends on the feasibility of the electric truck and the driving range. But if Tesla builds an electric semi-truck which is practical and feasible, it would transform the transport business around the world.
