Tesla Reveals The First Model Y Teaser Image
The first teaser image for Tesla’s upcoming all-electric compact crossover was released at Tesla’s shareholders meet.
Tesla has revealed a teaser image for its upcoming compact crossover, the Model Y. The Model Y, like all other Tesla cars, will be powered by an all-electric drivetrain. Details of the new drivetrain are not yet out, but it will be based on a new platform.
Though the teaser image does not reveal much, character lines similar to that of the Model 3 can be seen. Also seen is Tesla's attempt to get rid of the ORVMs, which they had tried to do with the Model X but failed since it did not comply with regulations in most countries.

We can expect the car to feature drastic changes, as Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, had previously stated that the Model Y would not feature the 12-volt electric architecture found on all cars today.

This would then pave the way for a new electrical system, getting rid of the lead-acid batteries. Musk went on to say that the overall wiring in the car too would be reduced, to help simplify the production process.

Tesla is looking at automating most of the production process for the Model Y. Musk added that a new factory would produce the Model Y while the Gigafactory One will produce only the battery packs.

The teaser image for the Model Y was revealed at Tesla's Annual Shareholder Meeting held at the Computer History Museum in California. However, Musk said there was something more to be unveiled at the semi-unveiling of the car. Would it be another car? or would it be some futuristic technology? Only time would tell.
Elon Musk has said that the Tesla Model Y will be on roads in 2019.
