Spy Pics: Tata X451 Premium Hatchback Spotted Testing In India
Tata Motors is working on a new next-gen premium hatchback for the Indian market.
Indian automaker Tata Motors is working on a new premium hatchback codenamed as X451 to rival the likes of Maruti Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20 and Honda Jazz.
Now, Motorbeam has spotted the premium hatchback for the first time being tested in Pune. The next-generation hatchback will be positioned above the Tiago and will be Tata Motors' first premium hatchback.
The spotted prototype model is still in its early phase of development, and it is heavily camouflaged. The front fascia of the hatchback is equipped with temporary headlights. But the gap around headlights suggests that the hatchback will feature swept-back headlight design.
The rear of the premium hatchback gets temporary tail lights and the prototype model is equipped with steel wheels. The Tata X451 will be based on the company's Advanced Modular Platform (AMP) and the overall design will be similar to the Nexon.

There is no information regarding the technical specifications of the Tata X451. But we can expect that the premium hatchback will get the new 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines. Both the engines are also deployed in the recently launched Nexon.
Tata Motors is likely to load the new hatchback with premium features such as touchscreen infotainment system, projector headlights, LED daytime running lights and automatic climate control. The company is also expected to introduce a sedan based on the X451 to rival the likes of Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Ciaz.
