Tata Tigor Spotted With Production Badges — Launch Imminent
Tata Motors is gearing up for the launch of its new compact sedan, the Tigor and the new car has been spotted with the production badges.
Indian automaker Tata Motors recently announced that the yet to be launched compact sedan, which is based on the Kite 5 concept will be launched under the Tigor moniker. The company has branded the new vehicle as a 'Styleback'.
The production of the new compact sedan has already begun and TeamBHP has spotted the Tigor with production badges on the left side of the boot lid, whereas the right side will display the trim level badge.
Taking a closer look at the images, it appears to be, the production of the new compact sedan has already begun and the launch will happen in the near future.
The Tigor compact sedan is based on its hatchback sibling, the Tiago. The new compact sedan will be the third car to be based on the company's new IMPACT design philosophy.
The front fascia of the Tigor is similar to that of Tiago, whereas the side profile will feature a notchback-like silhouette with the sloping roofline. The rear of the car features new tail lamps and a chrome strip on the boot lid.
According to the reports, the top-end variant of the Tigor will be equipped with diamond cut alloy wheels. The top-of-the-range petrol variant will feature the same alloy wheels which are found on the Tiago XZ trim.
The new Tigor is expected to be powered by the existing 1-litre diesel engine and a 1.2-litre petrol engine. Both the engines will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and an AMT variant is expected to be added at a later phase.
It is expected that Tata Motors will launch the Tigor compact sedan in the Indian market by March 2017. When launched the new sedan will take on its segment rivals such as Hyundai Xcent, Volkswagen Ameo, Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire and yet to be launched Chevrolet Essentia.
