Tata Tigor To Be Launched Tomorrow In India — Here Is What You Can Expect
Here is what you can expect from the Tigor which is all set to be launched tomorrow (March 29,2017) in India by the resurgent Tata Motors.
Tata Motors was among the first carmakers to enter the subcompact sedan segment in India. The homegrown automaker is set to launch a subcompact car again in the segment albeit with a renewed vigour.

Armed with its new 'IMPACT Design Philosophy' and two successful launches - Tiago hatchback and Hexa SUV - the company is ready to launch its new offering Tigor, a subcompact sedan which the company refers it as 'Styleback'.
Here is what you can expect from the Tata Tigor in tomorrow's launch:

1. Based On The Successful Tiago Platform
The Tata Tiago has impressed the carmaker with its consistent sales. The Tigor will share the chassis of the Tiago as well as engines, equipment and features. This means the Tigor will be offered with a 1.2-litre three-cylinder Revotron petrol mill capable of producing 84bhp and 114Nm of peak torque.

The Tigor will also come with the diesel engine option, a 1.05-litre three-cylinder turbocharged engine which develops 69bhp and a healthy 140Nm of torque. Both the petrol and the diesel units come paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the automatic gearbox model is expected at a later date.

Tata Motors has revised the gear ratios to ensure the Tigor is peppier than the Tiago to offset the added weight. DriveSpark test drove the Tigor, read all about here.

2. What Is Not From The Tiago
The Tata Tigor will clearly set itself apart with exterior and interior design elements. The Tigor will come with projector headlamps with double barrel layout and blacked out surrounds.

The Tigor wears 15-inch wheels compared to Tiago's 14-inch wheels (though the diesel model comes with the 14-inch wheels).

Well, yes, the Tigor comes with a boot unlike the Tiago and is much bigger with 419-litres. Instead of the conventional goose-neck hinges, the Tigor features hydraulic four-bar hinges to maximise boot space.

Additionally, the Tigor's wheelbase has been extended by 50mm over the Tiago; Tata has been able to provide a longer wheelbase compared to the Maruti Suzuki DZire.

3. Tigor To Be Priced Competitively
With the subcompact sedan segment in India witnessing every carmaker to offer one from their stable, Tata Motors is expected to price the Tigor in the range of Rs 4.2 lakh to Rs 6.5 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi).

The pricing of Tigor will realign the subcompact sedan segment in the country; in most probable, carmakers in India will have to re-strategize their offerings in the segment.

Come tomorrow; we will know if Tata Motors will bring back the success of subcompact sedans back to the Indian market when SUVs are clearly ahead in sales.
