Tata Tigor India Launch Date Confirmed — Is The Styleback Dzirable Enough?
Tata Motors has revealed the launch date of its much awaited subcompact sedan, the Tigor. The new car will be launched in India on March 29, 2017
Indian auto maker Tata Motors has revealed the launch date of its much-awaited subcompact sedan, the Tigor. The new car is set to be launched in the Indian market on March 29, 2017.
The Tigor is a sedan iteration of the Tata Motors' best-selling hatchback, the Tiago. The company is branding the new car as Styleback, and the sedan will be slotted below the Tata Zest.
Tata Tigor made its European debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. The Company also showcased the yet to be launched Tata Nexon. The Tigor is based on the same platform that underpins the Tiago.
The Tigor features the same IMPACT design language identical to its hatchback sibling. The front fascia of the sedan is identical to the Tiago with Tata's signature emotion grille, sweptback headlamps with projector lights and daytime running LED lights.
The exterior design of the Tigor features bold shoulder line; the rear is neatly designed to mimic the notchback character of the car. That's why Tata calls it a Styleback.
Apart from that, the Tigor features coupe-like sloping roofline that blends well with the muscular boot lid. The rear section of the car gets wraparound tail lamps and rear bumper with wide back inserts adding to the sporty appeal of the car.
The Tigor draws power from a 1.2-litre three cylinder Revotron petrol engine and 1.05-litre three-cylinder Revotorq diesel engine. The same engines are deployed on the hatchback sibling of Tigor, the Tiago.
Power figures of the engines are expected to remain same. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Tata Motors offers the Tiago with AMT transmission. So we can expect the same with the Tigor.
Once launched in the Indian market, the Tata Tigor will take on its segment rivals such as Ford Aspire, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent and Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire.
Tata Motors also unveiled its new sports car, the Tamo Racemo. Check out the extensive photos of the new performance machine from Tata Motors by clicking the gallery below.
