Tata Tiago Electric Vehicle (EV) revealed. The fully electric vehicle concept was unveiled at the LCV2017 (an exhibition for low carbon emissions vehicles) in Millbrook, UK.

Thanks to Sony K Thompson for the images. The Tiago EV is engineered by the brand's UK-based Tata Motors European Technical Centre (TMETC). The Tiago electric concept uses a liquid-cooled 85kW electric drive motor that produces 200Nm of torque.

Tata Motors claims the Tiago EV has a top speed of 135km/h and can sprint from 0 to 100km/h in less than 11 seconds. Losing the conventional internal combustion engine, the Tiago EV is lighter by 20kg with a kerb weight of 1,040kg.

The Tata Tiago EV concept has a range of over 100km on a single charge. With a fundamental demand for the Tiago hatchback in India, the Tiago managed to sell 7,000 units in August 2017; it is arguably the best model for Tata Motors to offer an EV in India.

With a relatively low-cost platform, the Tiago is the best model for Tata Motors to go electric which will help the company launch the Tiago EV with a competitive pricing.

DriveSpark Thinks!
Instead of developing an all-new electric vehicle, Tata Motors is using its existing model to offest any higher cost in developing a new EV. Also, the Tiago has been well received in the Indian market, and with an option of an EV Tiago, the Tiago could become one of the best offerings from Tata Motors.
