Tata Motors' newest offering, the Nexon, is a breath of fresh air in the boxy world of sub-compact SUV segment in India. The home-grown carmaker has made a tremendous effort to bring the Nexon concept to reality with minimal changes to the production vehicle.
The Tata Nexon is available in both petrol and diesel versions. While the petrol engine is a 1.2-litre unit producing 108.5bhp and 170Nm of torque, the diesel unit is a new 1.5-litre unit developing 108.5bhp and 250Nm of torque. Both the units come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Also, both the engines are turbocharged for that extra power.

Now that we know the engine specifications of the Nexon SUV, how do the variants differ on the new Tata SUV? We try to explain the variants of the Tata Nexon SUV.
The Tata Nexon is available in four variants: XE, XM, XT, and XZ+, with both petrol and diesel engines.

Tata Nexon XE
The base variant of the Tata Nexon is the XE trim and comes with features such as halogen headlamps, side body cladding and LED tail lamps. Inside, the Nexon XE is offered with fabric seat covers, front umbrella holder, front power windows and manual climate control. The infotainment system is not offered on the XE variant of the Nexon.
Additionally, the Nexon XE comes with front power windows, multi drive modes, and 16-inch steel wheels.
Tata Nexon XM
In addition to the features on the Nexon XE variant, the XM trim comes with shark fin antenna and Connect-Next infotainment system by Harman with four speaker layout which is compatible with Bluetooth, USB, and AUX.
Also, the Nexon XM variant is equipped with rear parking sensors along with Park Assist, remote control locking, all-four power windows, electrically adjustable ORVMs and a USB charger at the front.
Tata Nexon XT
The Tata Nexon XT is positioned above the XM variant and gets roof rails; body colored door handles and ORVMs, automatic climate control, rear vents with adjustable air flow, an electric folding function for the ORVMs, illuminated and cooled glove box and 12V power outlet at the rear.
Tata Nexon XZ+
The Tata Nexon XZ+ is the top variant of the compact SUV and receives all the goodies. The XZ+ variant of the Nexon gets dual tone roof colour, projector headlamps, 16-inch machine cut alloy wheels, 60:40 split rear seats for more boot space and two cup holders for the rear passengers.
The Nexon XZ+ trim comes with 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto connectivity and Voice Command recognition. The XZ+ variant of the Nexon is equipped with Park Assist with camera front fog lamps with cornering assistance and rear defogger.
Additionally, it comes with voice alerts for door ajar, seat belt reminder and service reminder, push button start with sensors on the door for unlocking and locking the car among others.
The Tata Nexon is offered in five colours: Moroccan blue, Vermont red, Seattle silver, Glasgow grey and Calgary white. Also, Tata Motors is offering dual airbags and ABS, multi-drive modes as standard fitment across variants of the Nexon.
