Spy Pics: Tata Nexon Spotted Testing
The Tata Nexon has been spotted testing ahead of its launch later this year.
The Tata Nexon, the Indian automotive giant's upcoming compact SUV has been spotted testing once again ahead of its launch.
The Nexon was spotted by DriveSpark's roving photographer as Tata Motors continues testing the upcoming rival for the Maruti Vitara Brezza.
The Nexon prototype spotted testing on the roads of Pune was once again covered in camouflage, but the new Nexon is expected to retain most of the design cues found on the concept car showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi. The Nexon will be the fourth product from the stable of Tata Motors to follow company's current Impact Design language.
The interior of the Nexon will feature a dual-tone theme with higher specced variants will feature a free-standing touch screen display for the infotainment system.
The new Nexon is expected to be powered by a turbocharged version of the 1.2-litre Revotron engine petrol powering the Tigor compact sedan along with an all new 1.5-litre diesel engine. Both engines will come paired to a manual gearbox with an AMT option expected to come later in the SUV's life-cycle. The Nexon will feature three driving modes: City, Sport and Eco.
The new Tata Nexon is expected to launch later this year with the rumours suggesting a date somewhere near the Dusshera-Diwali festive season. The Nexon will compete with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and the Ford EcoSport and Mahindra TUV 300.
DriveSpark Thinks!
The Tata Nexon, if it keeps to the design language of the concept car, will be one of the craziest looking SUVs to hit the Indian market. If it performs as well as the Tiago and the Tigor, Tata could have another winner on its hand.
