Tata Motors To Launch Two SUVs In Next Three Years
According to the recent reports, Tata Motors will be launching two SUVs in the Indian market by next three years.
Indian automaker Tata Motors has just launched its new MPV, the Hexa in the Indian market. In a bid to grab the chunk of the SUV market in the country, the company will be launching two more SUV's in next three years.
Currently, Mahindra & Mahindra is the leading Indian manufacturer in the SUV segment and Tata Motors wants to topple M&M from that position. Hexa was one of the MPV launched in this regard.
The next SUV from Tata Motors will be the Nexon which was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo and the other one is the top of the line luxury SUV which is in the works at the design studios in UK, Italy and India.
According to sources, the luxury SUV is based on the Land Rover Discovery Sport L550 platform and will feature similar architecture combined with Tata's Impact Design Philosophy.
The Land Rover team is playing a major role in the aesthetics of the premium SUV. The luxury SUV will be slotted above Safari and will be positioned below the SUV's sold by manufacturers such as Toyota, General Motors and Ford.
A company official said, "It will be the most premium vehicle yet to carry the Tata badge." Tata Motors will launch the entry-level Nexon SUV in 2018, the premium SUV is expected to be launched with a price tag of over Rs 20 lakh.
The premium SUV will be powered by a 2-litre diesel engine, whereas the Nexon will be offered with a 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine. The SUV will also get different drive modes such as City, Eco and Sport.
