Tata Motors Riding High On Tiago; Posts 35 Percent Growth In December 2016
Tata Motors has recorded a growth of 35 percent in the month of December 2016 on the back of strong sales of the Tiago hatchback.
Tata Motors has ended the the year 2016 on a high note with its successful hatchback, the Tiago. It continues to be the best-selling car from the stable of Indian automaker.
Tata Motors registered a sales figures of 10,827 units in the domestic market and recorded a growth of 35 percent compared to the same period of 2015.
Tata Motors' passenger and commercial vehicles sales were at 40,944 units, a two percent growth compared to the 39,973 units sold in the month of December 2015.
The domestic sales of passenger and commercial vehicles recorded a growth of one percent, whereas the cumulative sales including exports stood at 3,91,493 units, a rise by seven percent compared to the last year.
But the commercial vehicle sales in the domestic market has witnessed a decline in sales, the construct segment posted a strong growth of 22 percent, which is attributed to the increase in road construction.
In the month of December 2016, Tata Motors exported 5,119 units and recorded a growth of 12 percent compared to the 4,557 vehicles sold in December 2015.The cumulative exports also posted a healthy growth compared to the last fiscal year.
President, Passenger Vehicle Business, Tata Motors, Mayank Pareek said, "We continued our growth momentum in December on the back of robust sales, led by positive response for the Tata Tiago."
He added, "This has resulted in planned stock reduction in the network. We also saw good traction on retail sales towards the end of the month. The new year holds tremendous opportunity for further growth as we enhance our product line-up with a slew of new models."
